THE HART MARINE PILOT BOAT
The Pantocarene ORC self-righting design is an innovative design that is an evolutionary approach rather than a revolutionary one.
Combining aptitude Pilot Boat design and the most innovative composite boat building techniques, and refined engineering brings the ORC vessel to the forefront on the world stage. Named “Pilot Boat of Choice” in Germany, London, Belgium, France, Australia, New Zealand, The UAE and many more.
The world class design and Hart Marine build quality ensures a superior lifespan of over 35 years, resulting in achieving outstanding hours of operation per year and reliability in all aspects of pilotage.
Functionality and purpose are at the forefront of our design philosophy and something that is executed through all of our world class vessels.
Pantocarene has spent 30 years researching and developing a refined and unique beak bow hull form. This distinctive feature reduces slamming, vertical acceleration, and fatigue of pilots and crew all whilst simultaneously improving the wave piercing ability of the boat. The hull form of the ORC design, has proven to be very efficient as it reduces drag, which in turn, improves the fuel economy and operation of the boat.
This vessel has been proven to be “more capable in rougher weather, than any of our previous boats”, Gary Bawden, Operational Manager, Darwin Ports.
Engineered to function through a rollover, this vessel boasts PROVEN self-righting design, which has been the deciding factor for our clients when purchasing our ORC Pilot vessels. This is a crucial difference that delivers a higher safety standard to pilots and crew, which is in compliance with the Workplace Safety Legislation Amendment (Workplace Manslaughter and Other Matters) Bill 2019, which has been put in effect from July 2020.
The self-righting boat can function during and following capsize due to the following:
• Dampers on all ventilation ducts.
• Engine mounts specially designed for complete roll-over.
• Safety belts for crew and pilots.
• Fuel tanks and other components all designed for inversion.
• Capstan to hold the anchor chain and warp to prevent damage from roll-over or large seas.
With a suspended wheelhouse the transmission of noise and vibration is significantly reduced.
As a result, this improves the working environment for pilots, crews and skippers as it reduces their fatigue and increases comfort, resulting in improved functionality and safety. With safety a top priority in all designs this is a fundamental feature to the Hart Marine ORC Pantocarene Pilot Boat.
